Marco Polo hostel
The hotel is located in downtown Budapest. It takes 10 minutes by metro to get there from the Dáli Railway station.

Marco Polo hostel
Although the Marco Polo advertises itself as a youth hostel, it is more like a budget hotel, with a terraced, powder blue façade. The lobby area is pleasant and welcoming, with safes available at the front desk. The property houses 47 guestrooms in total. The double and quad rooms are bright and comfy with en-suite bathrooms. Meanwhile, each 12-bed dormitory is 'private', with beds separated by lockers and curtains. Each dorm is also situated next to a dedicated bathroom with two sinks, showers and WC's. There's also an internal courtyard, a small kitchen on the third floor and a laundry room on the first. The restaurant is located down in the cellar, but is large and friendly, offering space to chat with fellow travellers or keep in touch with friends and family back home via e-mail.

I will recommend the hostel for its affordability and friendly staff. The facilities are a little run down (e.g., the quilt is old, and the drain in the bathroom gives a foul smell). It's rather noisy due to the construction site nearby. We had to shut the window but there was no fan in the room (in August). It's ok because of the price, but the foul smell in the bathroom drain should be improved for health reason.

If you've been travelling for a few day a trip to any of the thermal baths for some relaxation is a must.

Thank you for giving us a chance to praise the Marco Polo Hotel in Budapest. I have stayed in some of the best hotels all over the world and I have visited 24 different countries.
I have never felt so at home or been so comfortable before. There were no frills, no goodies etc., for which I was delighted.
The small hotel shares its premises with a Youth Hostel and on the whole they did not disturb our stay. I can not bother to list the tiny negatives, but the positive were great
1) The price,
2) The small comfortable corridors
3) Efficient fast lift
4) Beautifully placed reading lamps (A first for me for ANY hotel)
5) A great shelf in bathroom for all one's cosmetics, cleaning and hair
stuff
6) A brilliant shower,
7) Spotlessly clean
8) Incredibly helpful, pleasant reception staff
9) Only just an adequate breakfast, but all clean & fresh
10) Very, very central Pest
11) Quiet side street
12) Next door to a very good cheapish Italian restaurant we used more than
once after a hard days sightseeing
13) Internet availability
14) Good mobile signals.
15) masses of electric plugs that were easy to get at.
The Hiltons of this world could learn a lot from them

Everything I want to say is above. The sightseeing is just great. There is just too much to do under at least a fortnight and we only had 5 nights
